Are Video Games A Waste Of Time?

By: ryan leatham

Do you feel like you’re only here to play XBOX and survive school? Like you’re waiting on your life to start? Like while you're in middle school, high school it's all about getting ready for something that will happen eventually? But not right now.

There is a far greater message God has for young people; God has a purpose for your life right now. Yes, right now. Jeremiah 29:7 says, “Seek the welfare of the city I have deported you to. Pray to the LORD on its behalf, for when it has prosperity, you will prosper.” Your purpose right now is to benefit the city you live in, whether that's Charleston, Columbia, Anderson, or anywhere in between. You’re not where you are by chance, you’re there to make a difference. That was God’s plan all along; you are where you are to share Jesus with others.

Now there’s nothing necessarily wrong with Madden, COD, or 2K. You don't have to stop playing video games to be a Christian. That’s not the point; although your city doesn’t need another 13 year old that stays up until 3 a.m. playing Clash of Clans. The point is that it's time to stop playing games in life.

- Your city needs a young man/woman that doesn't put off sharing Jesus until they "grow up".

- Your city needs someone that doesn’t see school as a jail cell but instead as an opportunity to share Jesus with their friends, and even enemies.

- Your city needs somebody that will stop playing games, and get in the game.

Being a Christian means you have a purpose RIGHT NOW.
